I just finished this book and really enjoyed it. I have read all your non-fiction and little by little you have won me over with your entertaining and compelling insights. When doing some further research, my interest has turned to the "musical" references made regarding the airships. You are no doubt familiar with this but I thought I'd share this with you on the off-chance you were not. This found on OliverHeaviside.com: "One of his favourite destinations was Berry Pomeroy Castle. He also cycled to Little Haldon and to Babbacombe, and to his brother Charles who ran a music shop in Torwood Street, Torquay. The family was musical and Oliver played the Aeolian harp and his ocarina, a small egg-shaped porcelain wind instrument." And wikipedia about the Aeolian harp: "Besides being the only strung instrument played solely by the wind, the Aeolian harp is the only stringed instrument that plays solely harmonic frequencies." Your work continues to inspire and delight. Thank you

DeleteI asked my local library to purchase your book
ReplyDeleteCool! Thanks! Now let's see if they do. Sometimes libraries are picky. Let me know.

This is fascinating information! I didn't go that deep into Heaviside's bio in the Origin book but now I want to learn more about this bit. Thanks!
